With our new countdown widget showing only 20 days left until the Advent Chapel opens, the team is in high gear pulling together all the many pieces that will go into the project.
A few updates from the team:
- We are scheduling in volunteers (so if there’s an email from Rhonda sitting in your inbox, make sure you respond promptly!), but we still need volunteers to help us have enough people around for each of our 3hr shifts. Don’t worry, you won’t be stranded alone in the chapel and there will be an orientation for all volunteers! If you’re interested in helping out, please contact the Rev. Rhonda Waters at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at (514) 843-6577 ex 239
- Workshops, musical guests, worship services, etc are also being scheduled, so if you’re sitting on a great idea please let us know! If you have a resource you think would be helpful, don’t hesitate to send it along.
- We still need a few items to help the space feel “cozy”, as anyone who has seen our video well knows. We are particularly interested in finding some nice big plants, some (bare, green) Christmas trees for our window display, icons for our prayer space, and creches/nativity scenes for our display. Do you have some you could loan us? Contact the Rev. Robert Camara at email@example.com .
- We can now accept online donations! Donations can always be mailed to the Synod Office (by cheque addressed to the “Diocese of Montreal” and with a note indicating that it is for the “Advent Chapel”) or phoned in to the Diocese of Montreal office, but we can now also accept donations through the “Anglican Diocese of Montreal” page on CanadaHelps.org. Please make sure you select “Advent Chapel” as the fund/designation.
We are thrilled by the enthusiastic response this project has received. Thank you for all your support! Above us, please keep us in your prayers as we prepare to launch this experiment in incarnational ministry: pray for the team as we work to pull everything together, pray for the volunteers who will help our dream become a reality, and pray for those we will meet in the mall. May our Advent journey lead us to the Christ who has come to us.
